Yeah Blobby, good thinking! I've got two sizes: small and large... The little one (16 kgs) would suit Topper sailors in steady force 4. The bigger girl (a good 40 kgs) ... well, for a Laser in a force 6?

Not quite what you need?
Blobby can provide any intermediate sizes, including new stock this year: extra small !

Can't agree more- but what home exercises are good for sailing?

According to my missus - doing the washing up, ironing, making the beds, cooking dinner, buying flowers and sweeping the floor are all exercises that improve my sailing...

if you want a more serious answer - push ups, pull ups, sit-ups, running up and down the stairs, bouncing kids on your legs whilst sitting down (excellent hiking exercise that one - and if you don't have kids you can borrow two from BNS and earn some pocket money while you are at it )

My advice to all of you may not be very helpful but i think that you should all just invest in a trapeze boat and then you dont have to worry about hiking

You are a sailor with a healthy outdoor lifestyle - going to gyms is not good.

It is a fact that you can still do sit-ups at home on the bedroom carpet by tucking your feet under the end of the bed.  You can even tie a couple of bags of flour to your ankles, sit on a chair and swing your feet up and down to strengthen you thigh muscles if you really want. Or why not just go for a bike ride instead??

I've bin sailing for more years than I care to remember and have dried kit in a tumbly frier successfully too , you just got to use your noodle what you put in , some kit deffinately a no no , but wetsuits , even boots, non breathable drytops ,even amara gloves. you may reduce their life by half a season, but practicality when 3 out of 4 sail dinghies at the same time far outweighs this.

Hiking shorts, anything with delicate seals, leather or fancy pants inserts , trap harnesses , bouyancy aides , corsetts , hip flasks etc not a good idea
