If I remember correctly when the original rules were suggested there were no discards and then they were all given 1.

Stevie & Ben OCS in race 7...but it was a race held in 2-3 knots...ughh

Not looking great for them now...

Well I suppose the advantage is that it gives you 3 really sharp boats completely focused and driven by that country. We had a similar setup in the finns I guess..but the look at Ladies 470's once pippa shifted across to Yngling, then we didn't have anyone that had the speed/skill to push bas/sas on the home turf...

OTOH the teamwork can't develop to the 'ultra-level' that you would expect all these crews to be at - i.e. where they anticpate what the helm is goign to say next (or vice versa!!)

Remember the 9ers have 15 races- 4 more than everyone else.....
Do they get an extra discard?
