what you need is a crew that feels less expeianced than you so that they darent question your authority

Sail your own boats on Saturdays and Sundays. Sail the N12 on Weds. nights, cause there is usually not much wind, and the N12 likes a drifter. Just remember that you are the helm, you are in charge, if it all goes wrong it is the crews (your brother) fault.

cheers for clearing that up dave, i don't think we'll be having probslems over which side of beat ec. as i am a fair bit more experiecced then michael so he shud just go along wiv what i say like(hopefully anyways)

Don't forget to get a paddle for the N12. Keep it at the back and if he starts to argue give him a gentle prod with it.  Oh and remember that as the helm it is your duty to delegate. When you finish the weds. races, win the race to the showers while there is still plenty of hot water.  Now you have a crew you need never pack the boat away again.

As I explain to my apprentice from time to time, some things can't be taught or bought.  You've either got it or you aint.

Maturity, wisdom and some good humour, you are an excellent judge of character.

Dear Dave

As an Osprey sailor, I am constantly bothered by Assymetric jockeys admireing the fine lines, good looks and blinding prformance of my boat and its crew.

What advice would you give (barring the obvious physical deterrents), to curb the rabid enthusiasm of these poor creatures?

Yours.

P.

I had similar problems when I owned a Finn, ( before the thieving Ba$%£"& tax man investigated me for no good reason and I had to sell it to pay the fines and back payments all of which were totally fabricated by a complete $£%$%""!$ who really enjoyed his job and just needed a good slap with a Finn center plate).

They are in awe of you and your craft.  Just enjoy it.  If it really does become too much, then ask them if they would like you to take them for a spin.  If they are strong enough to drag the beast along the slipway they will be able to handle the sheet loads.  The type of loads that are generated from when boats were built for real men. Many will bottle it immediately and never bother you again, incase the offer is repeated, but those who are brave enough to try, will be hooked and join the class.

(ps if you are ever short of a crew then let me know).

Cheers Dave, sound advice....Thought I might have to get in touch with my feminine side for a horrible moment.  I realise it is wrong to assume all humans have similar physical talents as ourselves.   (I sympthise on the tax. Had similar issues over them mislaying my tax returns, and had to go all the way to the county court...fortunately I won......I think....).

If I make it down to Lancing I'll give you a shout.  Have to wait for the house extensions to be completed first.
