Dear the all seeing all knowing dave.

my brother(14) and i(16) have just got our hands on a national 12, a oldish one like but she seems sound enuf to me, (have yet to sail it tho, i would be helm bro been crew)

what are you thoughts on a brother helm - crew team, does it generally work? or will it all end up in tears?????
were mainly used to singlehanders my bros got a topper n i have a radial. we have sailed together in the past but not much, and we both seem to be looking 4ward to sailin together,   

my second question is, how would you juggle sailing 3 boats the topper, radial and N12. we regually race on saturdays and sundays and occasionally wednesday nites, it would be more tempting to sail on weds in a double hander (from my point of view),

sorry 4 rambellin on, but if u could shed some of ur wisdom on these questions i would be most greatfull

i sail with my bro at the helm and its normally ok except when one of us isnt in the mood, and i try to give him advice and we contridict each other and that causes a few problems but you will learn to live with him. Except when your wiring and he bears away and dunks you.

Thanks for asking, Pierre. Next time, you can join in!

The Have-a-Go didn't go very far, as there was hardly any wind. Perfect for kids and novices. We ran very short races back to back, with instructors giving advice to the competitors. By the time I'd set the sail right, did this and that properly, most of the races were over! Still, it was most helpful, and good fun too

It will not so much end up in tears as a punch up. ( well thats what happened when me and my brother tried  sailing together) You are older and probably bigger so you should win.  You will enjoy it initially but just wait till there is a difference of opinion on which side of the beat to take...

Sail your own boats on Saturdays and Sundays. Sail the N12 on Weds. nights, cause there is usually not much wind, and the N12 likes a drifter. Just remember that you are the helm, you are in charge, if it all goes wrong it is the crews (your brother) fault.
