Dear Dave,

The depth of your wisdom astounds me.

A good friend of mine (nothing more ) has made a heart-wrenching decision: his van came to an abrupt and final stop last week and he decided to buy a new(er) van rather than a boat!
Now, this man of exquisite taste has set his heart on a Contender.
I also have to mention that he is a self-effacing, caring, refined gentleman who puts lots of time and energy into helping others. Here is my question: do you think he'd object if grateful forum readers kindly made a small donation towards a new(er) boat...? 

(to give you an idea of price, my local Contender sailor shouts from the sitting-room that you can get a good second-hand for £2,500 - There are over 1,500 members on the forum. That's not even 2 quid each.... Such a great man deserves at least that! )

I can empathise with your problem Pierre.

You have only two options.

Give in to them all and spoil those lucky, lucky ladies.

Drink too much, eat lots of kebabs with onions and chilli sauce, only bath/shower on a bank holiday, only shave on a new moon, moisturise your skin daily with beef dripping.

Dear Dave,  do find it difficult to fight off the women due to a superior physique not generally available to other males.  What tips do you have for me to address this problem?

thanks dave, what a godsend, I was thinking of picking 84, 73, 55, 91, 95, and 104 but i think i'm gonna be winning big this saturday now, I'll get you a pint when the cheque arrives. 

On the subject of men and women being friends, a wise man once told me women are allowed to be "just good friends" with a man (especially after they dump one), but men can only ever be letches, under-the-thumb, or gay.
