thanks dave, really brightened up a sh1tty day.

dear dave,

i had my boat repaired in november ish at the transom. the guy told me i had to pay him the £317.50 directly in cash and claim it back from my insurance. i didnt know proper procedure and so did it and was later informed by noble marine that it doesnt work that way.

the repair has since failed and split (apparently you need microfibres in west coast epoxy). can i realistically get the guy back as it wasnt repaired properly and hw should i go about getting my money back?

thanks tom

Tom,

I don't know what you are complaining about. Your signature reads

looking for cheap twin wire skiffy type thing (+crew)
for blasts/ giggles

This indicates a Cherub. They always break and need repairing, and you will need to spends loads of money on it. Just look upon your current situation as a training session for when you will be doing less sailing and more boat maintenance.

Alternatively if you paypal me £859 I will collect your money for you, less a 25% collection fee. For this very reasonable sum I shall also put a firework through his letterbox.

I found myself in a similar situation just over eleven years ago.

Proudly tell all of your family and all of her family plus everyone else you know that you are going to raise your child in a traditional manner.

You are then free leave all the household chores (ie womens work) to your wife. Additionally you will not have to wake in the middle of the night with a raging hangover to feed the little darling. That traditionally is also womens work .

When you get home from a hard day at work, whilst your little lady is preparing your dinner it is traditional that you visit the local inn for a relaxing gallon of ale. Once you return to eat your feast it is traditional that you watch what ever you like on the telly.  After all she has been sitting at home all day doing nothing other than making silly noises to the kid.

After a hard weeks work you deserve the opportunity to relax and recharge your batteries.  What could be a more traditional pastime of this great sea faring isle that a spot of sailing.

Stand tall and proudly announce that the TT household is based on traditional values.

If your wife disagrees with any of the above it is traditional to ignore her and go for a pint or sail.

unfortunately a cherub is out of the question due to:
1 - lack of money
2 - we are sorting out a laser 5000 from the bottom of the boat park and so have the blasting toy

thanks for the help though

also thanks to noble marine for the help - will most definately be staying with you from now on - just spoke to the guy and it should be getting sort ASAP

Dear Dave,
all the years I owned Cherubs I never spent a fortune on repairs and maintenance. According to posters here I must have been doing something wrong. Can you tell me what?

You are not doing anything wrong Jim. You're just tight and don't like spending money. Also you are getting older and realise that your time is better spent sailing than tinkering.

I hope that has put your mind at rest.
