They'll probably modify the PY numbers for the class to allow the older boats to still be competitive. Haven't the Cherub class already assigned different handicap numbers relevant to the phases of boat?

The class recently voted in the new rules. These
rules were given a lot of consideration. From
Summer weather patterns to the viability of
modification of older boats. Along with the new sail
area change a mast height cap was also introduced,
this was done to maintain the Cherubs position as a
mixed crew light adults boat.

Currently we have 4 class builders. Aadvark racing.
DL Boats. Bloodaxe Boats ( well know for his
Olympic winning foils ) and RMW.

RMW have teamed up with Phil Morrison to produce
an off the shelf new rules UK Cherub which will be
out some time this year. The design will utillies
RMW's adjustable pitch wing rudder developed from
there world renowed I14's. Early indications are that
the price will be in the region of 7 to 8K.

Aardvark racing ( very well know for beautiful N12's )
produce complete hulls for 3K.

And DL Boats are producing a Kit Cherub alot the
lines of how you used to build Fireballs in the 70's
and 80's but in Carbon foam sandwich.

Andy at Bloodaxe is currently designing a new hull
shape and sells plans for his current Championship
winning boat the P7 as well as building bespoke.

The class doesn't expect all of the fleet to modify and
as with most development classes has different
sub Trophies for winning in the paticular
configeration of your boat. Along with the overall
Championship trophie there is a handicap prize at
the nationals as well. So there is an lot of prizes to
be had. Not to metion the fun prizes!

Why don't you come along to the next Blasting day
and have a go in one of our new boats, meet the
members and see what all the fuss is about.

I think you'll all find that you could fall in love.

By the way those rough prices are for full carbon
foam sandwich boats that all come in at around
40kg hull weight. Have a look at the UK Cherub site
for links to builders.

P.S isn't this the photo of the week thread?!!!!

woohoo information from someone who knows, cool that does look like it has been thought through well with the trying to keep the same market audience thing.

sounds like the cherubs have good racing for all boat combinations, may just have to try one out thought unfortunatly i dont have a spare 7/8k to buy myself a nice new one.

A good second hand UK Cherub that is suitable to convert to new rules
could be anywhere from £800 upwards. Currently there are 3 boats
that are on the list that would be suitable. I don't know the boats
intimately but essentially conversion consists of putting on a snout and
getting bigger sails.

• Flat Stanley -
probably the first ever foam sandwich boat build in the UK. Built 1978
No price is given on the site. But i am sure it would be a very reasonable
price. Although in my mind she should be homed at the Falmouth
Maritime Museum she is that important. Winner of Worlds, NZ Nationals
and UK Nationals.

• 2650 King Tubby - Andy Paterson's ( Bloodaxe Boats ) old boat (
Olympic Winning Foil maker and orginal moth foiler back some 10 years
ago ) Ply Glass and Carbon. Built 1992. 1997 National winning boat.
recently refurbished. £2750.

• 2685 Lost in Space -
Carbon Kevlar Nomex. Built 1993.
£1850. good boat.

But keep looking into the cherub site as more will become available as
new boats are built.
