I'm sure the average dinghy sailor will find just as much sucess on a keel boat, skiff or cat too.  Just remeber that your Hobie 14 is like a laser for example when it comes to ease of sailing.  This is until conditions get stronger or fleet skill level increases.

hey i´m not the qouter of your answers just thought i should let my dissapointment out by the way it´s not a very strong argzument that you have to crouch in no winds. i´ve never sailed a cat but the other boats i´ve sailed had this stupid characteristic too.
i just think we really should stick together and respect that different classes are here so that the sport sailing is suitable for everyone!

This 'I hate Cats' stuff is really boring.

Especially when the subject is meant to be 'Photo Of the week'.

A good sailing photo is just that - I personally don't care if its a Cat a skiff a dinghy a Keelboat or what. The photo of the Albacore is a classic - just cos I don't and wouldn't want to sail one doesn't mean I don't appreciate the photo.

Keep 'em all coming.

To illustrate - who can argue this isn't a great picture? Apologies if it's been on here before,  (I haven't trawled all 63 pages to check).

But would you really rather have never seen it just because its a Tri - and a big 'un at that?

The list of skiff pics on my pc is huge too.

Sailed the Historical 18s on Sydney Harbour.  They call them the Histerical skiffs for good reason.  Hard to sail and things can get mighty ugly too.

Aussie 18s on Sydney Harbour

12 footers on Sydney Harbour

Bull 9000 th 'Raging Bull' that I sail on from time to time with mates (who are all cat sailors)

Sydney would have to be the BEST PLACE TO SAIL IN THE WORLD.......

Great Breeze

Great Views

Great People

Bloody Great Boats

Also enjoy crusing with my mates around Sydney and off shore in the SeaWind 1000 and 1160

Or sailing into Darling Harbour, parking the SeaWind Ventura 38 and watching a movie at IMAX after we have sailed to the fish markets to pick up a HUGE feed of seafood and ate it on the Harbour.

Life's good in ol Sydney town

Now guys....  Lets direct the hate somewhere where it is warranted

Can't beat a big cat for cruising,  You can have your wine and seafood on the table and not spill a thing.   Life is good
