Iso? Buzz? L4k?

We also pondered "why" a bit, I must admit; tho' it is nevertheless a decent-looking boat. Whereabouts is its PY going to be, do you reckon?

(And I'm not convinced those toestraps go far enough aft....)

I have to say I think it looks a good boat- for some reason it reminds me of the hartley laminates osprey but assymetric

Hah I hadn't read that, but I might have predicted it, all that negativity
some of you lot really do need a bit more imagination..

And thanks merlinboy, spot on analogy

Well the guys done exactly what I thought needed doing.

It'll be a great club racer, and if a class grows around it, so much the
better, I just hope it's not going to be run by the class.

The trouble with some classes, very often they stifle change and
development whilst restricting themselves in the most obvious of areas.
The cherub being a prime example.

As another typical example, in 1979 I put forward a motion to the
assembled windsurfers of the then UKBSA, it was that foot straps be
permitted on race boards. It was unanimously thrown out. that
class became Div 2 and where is it now?
Classes don't necessarily act in their own long term interest.

No CB.

Asym builders blindly following the Bethwaite decree of fixed plate..

O.K. for Sydney Harbour, not much use for Wilmington on (the constantly
shifting sandbar estuary) Sea

Did someone say too much string...

How can you have too much string...

Without seeing one up close I can't comment too much, but it looks like a decent product. As to the strength or otherwise of the canting pole system, I'm sure they've thought of that....

I have to say, the Alto at the show looked a heck of a lot nicer a boat than the prototype I saw at Felixstowe last summer- it looks like a proper design, rather than a fraken-fiveoh. Still not sold on the canting pole idea (can the pole be retracted when centred- this would make heavy wind sailing, when the canting is not need, more pleasent and avoid the problems of the 400/4000 systems?). I reckon it stands half a chance of establishing itself- next couple of years will be key to them.

I've never used one, but don't those normal pole things the old people use
in their old boats have to be moved from one side to the other?

So surely one that can be moved from within the cockpit by means of a
couple of ropes from one side to the other must be better.

Er it's called progress isn't it?

Or is this a luddite sort of reticence.?

I mean, it is SO obvious to me, why is that?
