the 800 is never 62kg (maybe bear hull no fittings no racks) a musto skiff is 80kg rigged and that is so much lighter than an 800.

most 14s have a good deal of lead in them to. the boat I had with Adam Ovington for the 06 worlds had 14kgs of lead!

I believe the 800 much like the 600 has a relativly light hull but the fixtures and fitings tend to be heavy, such as the racks, foils boom, etc giving a fairly high sailing weight.

I believe the all up weight of an 800 is around 110kg.

Ross
If you can't carry it, don't sail it!

Yes it is 110kg all up.  I quoted the bare hull weight, because that is the weight that is governed by the I14 rules (78kg?).  Therefore, like for like, the 800 is lighter.  It has a carbon mast that is likely no heavier than a I14 one, sails will be a similar weight but the foils will be heavier.  I don't know what the all up sailing weight of an I14 is, but I'll wager it is not much (if any) less than a 800.  And I don't really understand what there is to be proud of in carrying 14kg of lead?  Why not jsut build it stronger and carry 4kg of lead, which is still enough to cover the proposed class weight reduction.

Rob Greenhaugh's rig on 1530 : just 7kgs ish so not the same as an 800s!

Hull weight of 74.25 dropping by 4 kgs over 4 years. Sailing weigh will be a lot less

Hulls are fantastically strong! the lead is just to bring it up to weight

Plus the weight can be placed in the optimum place around the boat.
