The rules have change a lot of the years as to what size rigs you can carry and 15.5m2 upwind sail area between main and jib and 37.5m2 downwind sail area helps the cherub carry a little more weight not saying having more weight is going to be faster but it can carry some weight depend son the conditions though

Kite 38 and a bit on 49er, upwind 21. something or other.. Wierd how there is such a performance difference! Not much of one for the technical go quickly stuff apart from the basics with sail controls..

I think the 800 is a great boat, no other boat out there makes that kind of performance so accessible. A fast boat that doesn't make you worry about being eaten alive every time the wind gets over a F4 or your are out of practice certainly has it's place and it does feel quite refined, especially upwind.14s and 49ers can be a bit much in some breeze, with a steep learning curve.

Is it the fastest boat out there? No. Even a 1990s 14 is still going to paste it downwind. Is it meant to be? No. It's a good boat for what it is designed to be.

They are unlimited but there is only so much cloth you can put in between the gap and still have a good shape!

Guys, get this theory of 25k plus out of your heads! A 14 that cost sub 10k is on the pace! A morrison 11- well sorted beiker 3 are more than a match for new ones! A morrison 12 is on the pace and are selling for about 7k ish. Which is a lot of performance for your money!

Cheers,

alex
