exactly ttc556 -

And my comment on cancel culture was NOT a criticism of it, but not sure how we can deny it exists Duncan?

"blunt but effective" were my words, and as I would have hoped citing Harvey Weinstein would have illustrated, I think it has merit in certain circumstances - this case may yet met that requirement. it's certainly not for blokes to decide.

Next time I'll go with Jeffrey Epstein, just to make doubly-sure I've not come across as in any way endorsing these anachronistic thunderc*nts ... hope that clears it up.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend folks.

Yes I think that's correct. Which is why my experience of the sport and my daughters seems to be so different, sadly.

Oh, and FWIW:

cancel culture - a couple of options, humbly suggested:

Apple will no longer support your Elvis biopic series Mr Weinstein, but we have commissioned The Morning Show

And

Whilst the Etchells Class no longer welcomes you Mr Handsy Sh*tsaks to any competition and hereby expels you from class membership for life, we have also taken a decision to remove Hull Number xxxx on Sail Number yyyy from the class register and request you remove licensed sail insignias forthwith - it will will no longer be class compliant for you or any future registered owner.

Young man like you TT should know that the term cancel culture is used as a pejorative these days.  Wink Synonymous with woke, snowflake, pinko, commie.  LOL

Example:

"For goodness sake, I've just been banned from using the office lift because I keep farting....bloody cancel culture gets right up my nose"

Ah yes, I do chuckle at those times I’ve been called woke, or a worse, a leftie … and no, they weren’t referring to port tack bias.

A while ago James  , you and I came to a agreement that we would not call each other by our real names or comment on each other posts.  Please live up to this agreement as at this time of my life I have no wish to have any contact with you in any way shape or form .
Enjoy your life in Spain .  Smile

Ah but Duncan, that agreement was with GrumpyCat, not this new identity you’ve set up, for seemingly no good reason other than to obfuscate. Resurfacing said account only this week to try to confuse an old fella in Kent who you just happen to have a personal vendetta with. And yes, I know the levels you have stalked him - across multiple social networks away from this site, I understand even threatening to physically assault him once? And you harbour the audacity to call his behaviour trolling - gotta laugh, nothing quite as strange as folk.

But thanks for publicly confirming what that idiosyncratic dull prose always indicated. There are no doubt countless other accounts you’ve set up over the years to hoodwink us all; but this one was so easy to spot.

Getting sloppy old boy - watch for your tells.

Anyway, I shall do as you wish - leave you in peace, one of the few men of sailing this complaint needn’t apply too given it could never happen at Mid Warwickshire Yacht Club - what an idyllic bubble it must be, all four acres of it.

Adios amigo

Oh dear. Here we go again....RIP.? A few irrelevant little chums getting into a little chummy spat. Trying to make their little opinions better than the last.  Heh heh...I''ll continue to watch from time to time...it just makes me laugh.

You’re right Oinks, it’s not worth it- I initially only posted to make an observation of the (underwhelming/badly considered) Etchells statement, felt I could / should say something- maybe not. However seems a few people agree with that, so thank you. I’m not quite sure how this spiralled and it certainly doesn’t add anything of value.

But that’s they way of the forum is I guess, so I’ll leave Duncan to his drab contributions, he can freely argue with himself using his multiple IDs; no doubt now that’s kind of his desire anyway.

However, one final thought: yes, people have said controversial points, laboured them ad nauseam and sometimes over stepped the line, myself included; however those that would seemingly apply to most have never threatened anyone physically, stalked anyone across the internet and have always relished the opportunity to turn this online space into a physical format - even if for a quick beer at the water sports festival, pub in London, dinghy exhibition indeed the marvellous Forum Open that Uncle Rodney set up - and it’s fun, it’s a laugh and in the real world we’re all very open minded and friendly - I left the FoM knowing one day I’d buy a Finn (it was simply the most delightful displacement sailing I’ve ever felt); Rodney built the D-Zero class … chapeau dude.

One question, though, where was GrumpyCat, Dakota, Duncan, Ex Laser and the myriad of other accounts he’s used simultaneously? He wasn’t there, he’s never there, except when he is - even in person, lurking around the shorelines like the sort of creep you’d find an article about one day.
