That may be so but it’s poor form to join just to say so and promote your alternative.

Been a member here since 2013, see details to the left, and a regular contributor to this forum over the years in my other guises.  I only came here because I was informed there was discussion of the demise of the forum.  The reason I set up TPE in February is precisely because of the void I felt had been left by the decline in numbers here.  I thought some might be interested to know that so they could join up.  It’s not a commercial venture, just a community group for dinghy racers.

I did umm and ahhh about whether to mention it, but in the end I decided it was worth while to do so, so that those that want to discuss dinghy racing know there is a vibrant place to do so.

Post count of 6 means you have not contributed here regardless of the join date.

Poor form to promote your community on this one and declare that this forum had “had its day”. It’s not for you to determine that …

iGRF's post is now showing on page 7, no surprise, but it's quite controversial.

Okay, I’ll leave you to it Old Timer.  I have contributed far more posts here than you have over the years but I have recently deleted my other accounts.  I’ll make this my last post and leave you to it here.  Even Mark has admitted its run its course in it present form and has joined The Pin End.  Y&Y still the best source of news.
Good winds.

Good winds.

Anyone can claim other IDs. Which ones are you claiming?

My point stands, it is not for you to declare this forum dead and it’s poor form for you to use it to promote a competing community you have created.

Old Timer - It is precisely your type of toxic response to a genuine comment that makes this forum not a nice place to be. You may not agree that this forum is dead but everyone is entitled to their viewpoint and aggressive responses like yours really don’t help. All he was doing was giving an alternative place to hang out. You either go there or you don’t. Your choice. But your response was completely inappropriate. Play nice or don’t play at all.

I sort of agree with both points of view . Salcombepirate HAS posted a lot on here over the years but he  has been a little full on trying to get the word out about ‘ The Pin End , not that bothers me.
I wish his fb page all the best but I haven’t found much of interest so far , unless you are interested in GRF being GRF .  Smile

While I don't think that there is any doubt that this forum is not what it was, I think that, in typical forum fashion, there is some rather overwrought keyboard warrioring going on.
At the very least the forum contains a lot of good, searchable, information and is a suitable place for asking questions and seeking advice.
It maybe that there is not at present a critical mass of mates so that banter and gossip can thrive but I can't see that any of the alternatives are really buzzing.
