When I had my soap dish (RS300) I found that Zhik dinghy boots gave far more grip than my other boots (Gul All Purpose).

ColPrice2002, that's the winning idea for me. I have some, and also, we sail from launching ramps, not off a beach, so the wax wont get contaminated with tons of sand. Cheers!

My one time Principal Instructor bought an RS200 - she recommended liberal use of "sex wax" - it's a surfboard wax which gives a good grip when wet.
The RS200 can be polished to an extreme slippiness and the use of this (or similar surfboard wax) offers a remedy. It does need re-applying from time to time. |

If you use the same footwear in your Laser and do not have the issue then I doubt it will help to change your footwear as the texture of a Laser and a RS200 are broadly similar. Is it possible that you or another user has sprayed any product to help lubricate a stuck block or fixing? Years ago I used some lube on a fitting at the top of my mast and the next time out my boat was like an ice rink as the rain had resulted in the lube making it all over the boat. I was amazed at how a few squirts affected the whole boat for weeks! Perhaps wash the RS200 down as a first step?

Never had a problem with my Magic marine boots, had them for years, following some advice to get rid of freshwater smell, they dropped to pieces. Got boots from Decathlon, had no problems with them, grip well and have no signs of wear after three seasons.

In the spirit of keeping this forum alive - a question!
I slip and slide all over my RS200. I'm a Laser sailor really, but I do enjoy this boat as well. But I do a Torville and Dean impression on every tack. Younglings may need to Google what I just said, if there are any younglings here. I have just seen Gul Aqua grip shoes. Could they solve my problem? |
