Yes but only an ar**hole will do it deliberately. To be fair there are also ar**holes in the world of sailing.

As I said, they don't do it deliberately because they are anglers, the individual will do it deliberately if they are an ar**hole.

OK. Not sure why you posted that Robert. Perhaps you wanted to wake me up Wink    .....so we don't want any anglers taking up sailing then?Anglers who may already be members of sailing clubs or this forum, what are they to do in the face of this rant?
Perhaps they'll keep quiet and not mention they are....."Anglers". Who knew that "coming out" as an angler would be such a problem?
oops, just excluded about a million folk and your frustration hasn't gone away (and nor will it).We can't get rid of groups we personally dislike. They will always exist. This is true of politics, religion, race, sexual orientation and sport. We cannot control the actions or preferences of others directly, we can only influence others through contact and dialogue. This is reciprocal of course, the influence will always go both ways and then the frustrations tend to evaporate. The truth is all groups of people have ar**holes in their midst. If a person fishing on the beach casts large lead weights at you as you sail past (I have seen this happen more than once) they didn't do it because they are an angler, they did it because that individual is an ar**hole.

Not sure this thinking stacks up in relation to all interest groups....I think being an a***hole in thinking and deed is obligatory for some of the more extreme ones. (KKK perhaps?)

Yep you're right. Hate groups are a different kettle of fish indeed. Most of what they do is just plain illegal in most countries. Their behaviour is not tolerated but their thinking can still be influenced by the approach I highlighted.

Someone needs to design a attachment to tow behind a tractor, gather up the anglers, bale them put a label on and post them to somewhere that fishes to feed themselves.

On the coast, it's not impossible to find people who go sailing, racing even, but also do the odd bit of fishing. There is a lot more crossover and common interest between various water users.

Sure to be 'One gud un' millions of anglers apparently, can't see how any of them can help save clubs though, why even mention them.

Share the water, share the rent? There was a club near where I lived once who only sailed on Saturdays as Sundays were for the fisherfolk … I guess it worked for them, unless they’ve gone pop too!?!

From what I can see, Upton Warren SC (Worcs) activities have been scaled back over the years as the lake is shared with other water users. Looks like the area of water available to them is also reduced?

Lots of stuff going on though which has to be a good thing.
