Do you have your wings on maximum extension?

Yes, the class settled on having the racks at max for everybody. They have also introduced two new rigs over the years, the Halo at 11.4m2 (the Blaze rig is 10.4m2) and the Fire at 8.8m2. There were three Fires out of 74 boats at the Nationals last year and no Halos so I guess the standard rig is probably optimum for the hull form.

The couple of boats I have sailed with wings, felt more relaxed, perhaps simply because I could stretch my legs.
Was there a notable difference in placings after ditching W E? |

I wasn't involved in the class back then so I don't know but the Blaze is certainly a comfortable boat upwind.

Was there a notable difference in placings after ditching W E? No .... but it became a damn sight more comfortable for all. 'Lightweights' not being required to carry up to 12kg made sense and wider wings for the taller of the class was equally popular. Best crew weight ? Somewhere between 75kg and 90 kg seems about right but Nationals winners have also come from outside this band over the years. Depowering is relatively easy. For the Blaze WE etc proved a bit of a mirage/distraction and it only lasted for about the first 4 years of what is now 26 years... I suspect some other classes found similar.

It was reported on another forum that they should have been rolled out to some EU dealers a month or so after the Dinghy show . Nothing has turned yet.
Not a surprise IF they are doing their normal business model of insisting their dealers pay in full , up front , before they ship any parts, sails or boats. That’s a big risk to take on a new boat . My guess is the first we will see of it is at a holiday centre somewhere.
