Somebody sold the whole concept to the EU and probably did quite nicely out of it.
There were some jobs on the LP website, titles suggesting selling one at a time was not the main plan. My guess is this will either disappear and be largely forgotten in 3 years, or it will be (arguably) the top SH class in Europe.  And within 10 years, it will be surpassed by LP's next offering. Benjenbav churn 'classes' like that from 30 to 45 ft. Greying UK sailors will watch the racing in bar after floating around in their PY metaverse for a couple of hours on Sunday. Seriously, if this is going anywhere, I expect it to involve proper money, top sailors, sponsorship, media tarts etc etc, like Sail GP, the old L5000 eurocup and a few other attempts to 'engage the enemy audience'.

With any luck the circus will move on to the next model, dumping a a lot of used Por*stars on the market slightly before I'm too old to sail one. I'm increasingly convinced the '*' might be a 'k' by the way.   And I think it might be the answer to The Big Question', because that question might be 'How the hell do we move on from the legacy horror story that is the Laser?'.

The real question might be 'why doesn't this forum process the Enter. AKA carriage return, Linefeed key?'

Well given the protectionism displayed here, not surprising then that the PYAG will probably also crucify it rather than take the efforts of that team at face value in that they genuinely appear to have tried to produce a better boat than the Laser could ever be.

Some more pictures

Interesting boat and concept; personally think it looks nice but also see it more as a boat that will end up on the list of people considering as an Aero, D0, Laser, Supernova etc rather than for those considering a phantom, blaze, H2 or Finn as it just looks to suit the smaller helm and the equalisation chart would also nod in that direction.

How ever good a boat it might be , it’s success or failure will have nothing to do with people on here being negative or a tiny trolls paranoid conspiracy theory about the PY committee.
If it’s a good boat it will have to be marketed well, have good build quality  and have robust supply lines for the boats, sails and parts. If it has these things , it will be successful.
Nothing I’ve seen in the last decade from Rasty companies suggest this is likely to happen , but you never know, they might have turned over a new leaf .
Either way it’s just nice to have something new to talk about .

Whether it's a 'good boat' or 'successful' might deepnd on how you measure that.
In my view, the Laser is not a very good boat (there are a lot worse though), but it delivers good racing, of a certain sort, to certain groups of people. That's what matters. The racing. It's not a concours d'elegance competition, it's not the Queen's Award for Innovation, it's a matter of making racing happen. Whether Por*star racing happens in a big way probably depends on a lot more than the merits of the boat.
The ideal trick would be to hit the market head on with critical mass.

There is a lot about it I like, there are things about I don't like/not sure about/(think they don't suit me). You can't please everyone with a SMOD, or singlehanders generally.

Well let's have a little side bet shall we ?

Now according to my little computer formula, that boat should come in around 1050-5 ish with the 8.5 rig.

I bet the b**tards give it 1030-5 or less.. just watch.

Can't have something coming to disrupt Laser or RS sales.

Racing against what?
If the 8.5 is only 5% faster than a laser they should be having words with the designer.

I doubt they care. It will all be about OD racing.

I will take you up on take .
Not because I don’t think the py will be 1030 because that’s where I would guess it should be .After all it’s only slightly shorter than the Dzero  (py 1029 ) but is wider and has more sail.
But because they will never sell any . No boats , no race times therefore no py.

They have just reinvented the laser eps  Wink
