A Westerly would be fine for a club racing boat - but perhaps not competitive for front of fleet one design racing. A lot of boat for sub £4k though.

All J24s are balsa core - so any cracks in outer skin will result in soft spots.

Don't think that any Westerly would be competitive

Hence they are cheap and have their own prizes at events

May well be ok for club sailing races ?

I'd try the J24 association

I seem to remember they could sink if sailed without the wash boards in. The later Rogers built ones changed something to stop this. It would be worth checking on a class forum if they have one.

Looking for a cheap J24. Does anyone know how the Westerly built ones perform against more  modern ones? Also, any known structural problems?
