Make sense really given the spare capacity they will have on the CFD systems (they are resource limited so can't run sims 24/7 these days).
That and they have some very good engineering people too. Adrian Newey and Red Bull Racing were involved with the previous challenge but not to the same extend that Ineos is with the F1 team and AC challenge. |

Mozzy. Did I see a video talk over of yours on the American Magic crash? Interesting dialogue between tactician and driver................ YouTube sometimes does my head in with its auto selection but this time it did well, shame the auto feed then binned it for something random and left me wondering how to find it again.

Mozzy input on the AC thread on ‘ the other place ‘ has been really insightful and really helps both with the technology and techniques of the boats and the team dynamics of each of syndicates.

BBC have caught up - ahead of all football news on a Saturday 😀 Great race, didn’t think the racing of these things would be as interesting Edited by tink - 23 Jan 21 at 10:08am |

I agree tink. I made my annual Christmas call to my non sailing cousin in NZ who threw into the conversation that she was gripped by the pre Christmas racing. I really hadn't considered watching it to that point, but it made me pay more attention to the Prada Cup series, and it's been time well spent.
I think the small size, and narrowness, of the racecourse helps a lot. I remember a few years ago watching some practice racing of the Extreme 40s in behind Plymouth breakwater. 5 or 6 of them packed into that space at the speeds they were moving at made it pretty interesting.

The bottom mark rounding and tacking straight away - Ineos was on fire and super quick on the tack. Best rounding I have see in a long time. Such a different boat now.
Jimmy was being very cheeky at the end trying to bear away on the cross to cause a foul on Ineos .. ;-)

Obviously great for Rita, I think Jimmy will view it differently. If you watch the stern cam of LR and listen they where going deeper way before hand and probably reacting to a shift but umpires call 😀 was good for us. We’ll have to wait for the final, can’t see AM being on top form all things considered.

The rounding straight into a tack looked so slick and well rehearsed and in my opinion the critical point that won them that race

Yeah, I've been covering some analysis of the cup racing on my channel.
Basically, the same commentary I do on my own sailing, but I'm extending the critique to the pros... Unsurprisingly there is more interest in talking about America's cup boats than my RS 800 sailing... but hey ho. We're in lockdown and I'd be chatting about it with my mates regardless, so might as well record it and put it out for the masses to tear apart! |

Keep posting Mozzy, enjoyed your insights. Re the delta planform does it not provide lift a broader range of angles of attack and so more stable lift as the boat pitches The other place’s content is all about getting a reaction, traffic and money, I personally refuse to visit the there, nearly a year now.
