Yes, that was announced in the Press Conference on Monday morning  ;-)

Ineos and Prada will race Saturday and Sunday for the final RR's. 
Ineos need 1 race win to go straight to the final. 
Prada need to win both races to go straight thru to the Final (even tho they would be level points - the winner of the last race wins the tie-breaker).

AM 'intend' to be ready for the Semi's on the 29th (first to 4 race wins goes to Final). IMHO - None of us really know the extent of the damage, and even given what we DO know, its a tough ask to rebuild, test, and then test on the water by the 29th. Still, we all hope they do.

As an addendum - both Ineos and Prada have to each 'start' their RR race against AM - even tho AM wont be there. - called 'ghost' races.

Don't think there is any danger that AM would pull out

They could use their old boat or even borrow one of the other teams first generation boats

I thought the rules allowed a team to change just about everything except the hull?

A tough ask and lost time on the water. Amazing the hull damage was relatively localised, in the morning after press conference Terry Hutchinson said they had ultrasounds the whole hull and didn’t have any delam other than around the hole. Good luck to them

I've just heard what went into their recovery.. Jesus H Kerist and all done in three weeks.

Oh and wether by chance the acquisition of 35% of the Mercedes F1 Team by Ineos who played a huge part in the development.

There is a Mercedes F1 chap on the team doing the data crunching.

I do wonder whether it was more "oh, sh*t, he'll ditch us for F1 unless we get our act together"!

There are 16 Mercedes Engineers apparently and they used the Mercedes super computer to do some magic with the foils. They also completely rebuilt the rig apparently. Not sure if all this stuff was bought forward before they thought they'd need it, but lots of thought has gone into the grinding pedestals, the fact they only have six facing forward(yet they each can generate 470+ watts and have some wonder clutch gizmo from Harken). Rebuilt an entire new rig in the two weeks which has some magic which I probably shouldn't speak of at this point but it might trickle down to us in future, they have certainly chucked a boat and a half load of cash at it.

Still no AC but the BBC bit they do have Hannah Mills talk about the Olympics.

Back to AC it will interesting to see if this rule carries on to the next cup. The teams have made a massive investment and learnt a lot and it would be shame if all that development is lost.
