Then you look at most sailing clubs where ROs are volunteers in many cases set in their ways and then tell them they need to learn a new system.

We discussed this at my local club, spoke to some of the ROs and they said if they had to use a laptop/fully electronic system they would not RO anymore. 

We stuck with pen and paper and have a member who is happy to process all the results through sailwave to get them on them club site and upload to the PYS online site.

We have a fancy box of tricks that does multiple starts and times so just flags to raise and lower and recalls to handle. a competent RO and do it all alone if necessary but it is much easier with 2 people and fits all RO types.
