Hi All
Quick advice needed back end of slot gasket has come loose, and want to race today, bought the materials to replace this morning but its PiSS#NG down. I though of either cutting of flapping bits and hoping or trying to re-stick with silicone type grab adhesive(sticks like sh1t.)which is supposed to work in the wet.
Thanks
Gordon

You definitely don't want to attempt a proper repair unless you have at least a couple of days for the glue to fully harden so I'm with iGRF, Gaffa or whatever you have until you can do a proper job.

Definitely needs to be dry and clean to effect a proper repair. I use proper evo stik- the highly volatile one (the water based version is hopeless). Even gaffer or gorilla tape will need the surfaces to be clean and dry to adhere for any length of time.
We had the dubious pleasure of watching a team at the FB Nats a few years back try to replace theirs in the rain - 3 days on the trot, I think.

Should be possible to get it dry for a couple of minutes while a temp repair is effected Given it's the back end theres a reasonable chance it'll survive a couple of races.

I've seen mention of using a 3M tape instead of contact adhesive on the Europe FB page this week, but have no idea how it's worked out yet.

HI All thanks for the help. managed to create a tent with a sheet of plastic, clean off the old glue with a 3M sticky stuff remover and then had some heavy duty double sided tape which worked for the day. hopefully will last for another 3 weeks then I can get the boat into the dry to do the proper job on it. Unfortunately the wind and my sailing weren't as good as the bodge repair.
Steve Cockerill ( Rooster) turned up to race just as I had finished and he had some of the 3m double sided but it was to late apparently he will be selling it soon. could make a messy job much easier.

i just used impact adhesive on mine Gordon after I had cleaned off all the original sikaflex (at least I think it was that). So long as you follow the instructions and press it down with a piece of wood or something to get a good bond it seems to hold for a long time. On my previous it held longer than it took for the tape to split from the board movement. Cheap as chips too.
Everything I say is my opinion, honest
