Keep drinking the Dettol GRF ![]() Nothing in that article is new or has been hidden before - especially if you have more than 2 brain cells. There has not been any standard reporting stats mechanism from Day 1, and had you listened to todays 5pm update, you will have heard them say, or allude to (was it Jennie? - who is the voice of calm and reason) that the stats dont necessarily mean people who died OF the virus YESTERDAY. It doesnt get away from the fact that we are approaching 20k people have died - so far - with Corona related illness - based on the somewhat haphazrd reporting of deaths and onoly in hospitals. The granularity will be done post all this I suspect.. You cant even base the stats against other countries as they have different citizen demographics. Its the best we have at the moment. I am not sure what you are trying to prove with your link in your post. Perhaps you read The Onion and believe what they say

Not trying to prove anything, just like to counter the health and safety hysteria with distrust.

Every now and then the Darwin Awards seem to attract more than the maximum number of contenders imaginable.... and then some more.

My thinking is that I don't want to be responsible for spreading a pretty nasty virus, so limit my movements where I'll come in contact with people. If we all do that, it will spread more slowly. Pretty basic at its core no politics involved.
Beyond that, there appear to be more scare stories and blame games going on than there are people on the planet. I find it best not to put crappy links up to dubious sh*t. |

I think it's spot on, explains everything, the media only going for negativity, confirmation bias by supposed 'experts'.
Ignoring facts that indoors is worse than outdoors, that was proven in the WW1 outbreak, patients outside recovered better than those inside. We've all been locked up for at least a month, it's time the bloody restrictions were relaxed, at the very least we should be able to visit friends who have also been locked up for a month. Gather at each others houses. We should be allowed on the bloody water to exercise. It really is outrageously stupid all this. Edited by iGRF - 24 Apr 20 at 10:50pm |

Spanish flu epidemic can't really be compared to covid19, Spanish flu was a vicious killer, you could pop to the shops a healthy person and be dead by lunchtime, it could be that fast, outdoors over indoors was probably due to overcrowded living space.
Herd mentality is needed for society to function, we are individuals but act for the most part in unison. Edited by 423zero - 25 Apr 20 at 12:02am |

Anecdotal evidence from my own life... Sailing my laser: Times needed rescue: 0 Times I've had an accident that injured me: 1 Times needed medical treatment: 1 (I badly chipped a tooth when de-rigging). Riding my bike: Times needed rescue: 3 Times I've had an accident that injured me: 5 Times I've needed medical treatment: 1 Ergo for me, sailing is not more dangerous than cycling and the danger/emergency services argument doesn't apply. Also, for some sailing is not really exercise (potter around not really hiking or working hard), but for me it is. To go sailing (I live 5 minutes from the club) would not be against the rules, but I'm currently not doing it purely because of how it would look and the hassle it attract from people who misinterpret or jump to conclusions. By the time we get to week 10 that decision may change. I'm also not windsurfing, but that's because the kind of windsurfing I do isn't really exercise for someone who is already generally fit. I'd having nothing against an RS-X sailor going out and pumping their way around though... |
