I like the idea of sailing full speed at the beach, and using the wheel to ride up onto land, so you can exit the boat with dry feet......?

I don't think sailing full speed at a beach in it will get you up the beach at all.. Much more fun just flying up the beach on a hobie, which don't take any damage from it either .

I asked that very question whilst visiting the show - apparently quite a few American living in the UK expressed an interest in the boat (nostalgia ?) and it's amazingly quick to rig - there's no adjustment on the outhaul or 'cunningham', just a tiller and mainsheet.......certainly a bit of an oddball, but more of these have been sold worldwide than Lasers Confused

I have heard that said many times but I have seen no evidence of it ... I'm pretty well travelled and have often seen Lasers kicking around in odd places; of course you always see them on the beach in the Caribbean but if there are 200,000 of them where are they all?

Um, I'll tell you what, you buy one from Laser and try it, if you can, then we'll all be down to give it a go.

Optional Extras

Can you have an extra two wheels fitted at the back so you don't have to lift it at all. A bit like a rib, you can get transom wheels for them.

Or for the even lazier parents (kids) one similar to the Sea-legs rib also on show at the boat show:

Speaking from experience of sailing a bug (on demo, embarrasing i know... ) you can definatly nose dive it by getting a 15stone+ish centre manager sitting on the bow whilst drifting around a lake!!  So i guess if we swapped round we would be able to do a wheelie!

Technically, no, you can't pop a wheelie.
But you could try an 'endo' instead...

Wandering round with some B14ers lateish yesterday, we were very amused by the "exhaust pipe" handles- definitely ripe for some "pimping". Having said that, it makes a very stable wheelbarrow.

in reality it is hideous, an embaressment to the
sailing
world. and with the race pack it will probably be much
more
expensive than the oppi. for learning to sail you have
oppi's for the kids, toppers for those in between and
pico's for adults. why is there a need for another one?
especially when you can reef both pico's and toppers. and
they are all nicer to look at.

rant over

why don't you stay in 1970 and not come out! bugs are the
perfect transition boat. No nine year old could rig a
Pico by themselves. Any nine year old would find a BUG
easy to sail, easy to rig and they are bullet proof! Oh
and they reef, so the age range is much wider than any
other boat.
