I think the part of the report that the D-zero being too technical because it has mast rake chock and different traveler systems so distracting from the athleticism speaks volumes of the direction they want the sport to go. Also I don’t think the D-zero or the M14 are really set up for global one design quality production.

Thanks.
Still puzzled about the D Zero's ranking, given the applause it has here and the way it looks. On the other hand, it would not be the first boat to over-do the fine bow idea.

As I said on t'other thread the Laser standard sail measures considerably more than 7m as that is the simple triangle area ignoring the luff, leech and foot rounds which may add as much as another square metre or more.

I remember in a FB/Insta post just after the trials RS seemed a little disgruntled that other boats had changed set ups slightly despite instruction from WS to bring the boats as they were being sailed.
Possibly frustrating as RS brought the 7 and 9 as they were, possibly despite already having the 6 in the pipeline and knowing it was probably better suited to the women's singe hander.

It seems RS are now considering an Aero 6 rig for the women (see their Facebook page). Can WS pick a boat that wasn’t at the evaluation event?

So, nobody spotted all those Finn Sailors sat over there wondering what they can do with the Aero 9mtr?

And to be even fairer, after passing the RS300 to The Boatyard at Beer RS continued to pay for floor space for the class at the Dinghy Show for two years even though they had no commercial interest by then. Fair play. [/QUOTE] What, no royalties? Was it 'passing' or selling? I must have underestimated RS's commercial acumen? As you say 'Fair play'

Will we be treated, at the Olympics, to sailors of smaller stature opting to drop down a sail size when it gets a bit breezy? You don't get much joy from a 9 at less than 85kg + if there is anything like a breeze, hence Aero opens being 7 orientated if it's much over 12kts. I'm fairly sure that 90kg male Olympic aspirants would rather take their chances in a Finn with a rig suited to their physique than an Aero 9. Whilst I can see the sense in opting for the Aero due to the fact that it already has global 'leverage', WS's reasoning seems somewhat flawed with regard to the demographic suitability.
