And don't start with discrimination, I could give you chapter and verse about short people being discriminated against. Trans could be even described as a lifestyle choice, Short isn't. Nor is Ginger but that's another thread, then there are folk from up North and Jocks and Taffy... FFS

What happened to this country and everyone deciding to be offended at the drop of a hat rather than 'get' a joke?

I'm not sure how to reply to that tbh and only hope it was some sort of twisted, ironic joke.
Lets just say I don't think a huge number of short folk, gingers or others try to kill themselves because of those characteristics. For trans people it's well documented that around 50% have tried to kill themselves at some point because of it - and I'm included in that figure and the suggestion that it is a life style choice is laughable. I fought hard for years against it, I believed I'd lose my family, my job, my beloved sailing and everything if I gave in to it, but in the end there was no beating it and I took the only proven 'cure' there is. Thankfully I didn't lose any of those things or indeed, despite my inadequate efforts, my life.
I know of several other active sailors who are terrified that if they have to transition they'll never sail again. Please think carefully before you spout such verbal sewage and drive someone over the edge.

Coming from the person who only pipes up to confect offence I'll take that as a badge of honour.

It's not, why do you think, you're the only person to consider suicide? Do you really believe no short person has ever baled out? It's probably only documented because your pressure group documented it. The problem short folk have is they pass it on. My daughter just recently very narrowly qualified for a job, scraped in by a millimetre I want you to consider the feeling we'd have if she'd missed that millimetre. There are myriad issues to being short, all taken for granted, so please don't give me any hard luck story simply because you want to switch sex.

Whilst I rail against imo unnecessary political correctness, I do think most humans deserve respect.  Thanks KazRob for making us stop and think.  I suspect that iGRF is digging himself into a bit of a (shallow) hole which might be better reserved for a DM forum ...

Terms like 'bigot' and 'verbal sewage' will do that.

Take what you want from it. My point stands.

Quite; many of us struggle with things over which we have no choice and others take the piss out off ... and that situation has been dark for many of those folk ... no one group has a monopoly on these things.

It seems certain groups are actively trying to clamp down on free speech and that does them no favours at all ...

I posted the video of Rowan Atkinson talking about free speech and I urge you all to watch it and think about what he is saying ...

Watched it again. I agree with what he has to say which is that ‘insult’ is not a matter for the law. And that there is too much sensitivity to ‘insult’ in society.

But that’s not what happened here. There were no insults. There were some posts on the threshold of ‘offensiveness’ which were called out by someone who understands the issue. And then the original potentially offensive comment was amplified. I find that offensive in how it breaches social convention, forum or not. To put it another way if the term ‘offensive’ gives people problems how about, ‘unforgivably rude,’. And specific comments such as the suggestion that transgender is a lifestyle choice seem to me to be offensive in themselves. Not the messenger but the message.
