The standard of the press releases and journalism around the WS conference has been appalling. It is so difficult to follow what is going on due to the poorly worded and constructed articles.

The standard of the delegates also leaves quite a lot to be desired ... I wonder how many of them have been in a racing sailboat this year?

The word "displacement" seems to have morfed from non planing to non foiling. How do we now distinguish between hull shapes?

So what will the mixed offshore keelboat be? They've not got long to f**k up a set of trials and so end up with something no one sails or likes.

A likely suspect seems to be all the used Figaro 2s that will be floating around after this year.

Somehow I suspect the event wil be a one off for Paris and then disappear without trace.

Perhaps a game of Tag/Tick using a wet sponge, fixed area, so fast tacking manoeuvrable boats, no 'heaving to' timed rounds, whistle blows boat on is out, keep going to final two, should be an exciting final.

Sailing at the Olympics reduced to the water games we play with kids at training sessions... sounds appropriate!
