The Blaze is nearly 2.5 metres wide TBF which does confer a fair bit of extra leverage. I remember reading about the joint H2/Blaze event at Warsash (?) last year and consensus was that neither was noticeably faster than the other overall. Either way they are both great boats.

Everywhere else that I've ever been they get whipped in the breeze by boats more suited to breeze and whipped in the light by boats more suited to the light ?


The do however go ok in all weather but don't excel in any

That's why we got them, to go up against Miracles, Merlins, Buzz's, Jeeps.. but what puzzles us most is what went wrong with the tablets you were taking that made you think an RS800 could scratch the itch?

One point that has not been mentioned is that the standard Phantom sail is over a square metre larger than the standard Blaze one.... this exaggerates the light/heavy wind differences and characteristics.  Put the 'large' alternative Halo sail on the Blaze and it can match the Phantom more closely in the light stuff  but most crews are naturally faster with the (smaller) standard Blaze sail once they can fullly plane the boat ... and prefer that generally higher breeze configuration.  FYI the Phantom main and the Halo main are within 0.1 of a metre of each other.....

Whereas a Hero is one who chooses a boat with a lousy handicap to compete with, just for the sheer fun of the boat.

And a Sheep is a sailor who believes One Design class racing is all there is.

One of our members is a lifelong Mirror sailer, he is almost a guaranteed winner with crew or without, here is a short video of him sailing with his wife, Laser sailor was that years handicap champion so no mug himself, though he normally sails a Comet.
