I've sailed one when it had its demo at our SC! It was actually quite fun tho it was gusting about 0-2knts! We done mini races around the resiviour in an oppie, a taz and the bug. Me and my brother (about 10 stone) were in the Taz and Oppie whilst a 15+stone centre manager was in the Bug! Firstly we realise the oppie was definatly the slowest and most uncomfortable by a mile! It was very close between the taz and the bug during the races - both had the racing rigs on... but overall the Bug won! It may of been the fact that if the centre manager started to talk to meand i'd slowly loose concentration and wobble the wrong way etc. (but he caught onto this and used it as an advantage!) Overall the bug sailed well compared to its competion and could carry more weight but it was a total swine to wheel back up the steep slipway as balence was a problemand the normal trolleys on a taz/oppie are easier. I'd give the bug a 7/10 on a teaching/learning basis! Splosh.
p.s A random fact: the Bug's inside is also made from ply! |

Yes it is, the wheel is permanantly out the bottom but the 2 circular drain holes on the transom pull out like 2 like exausts and become handles... a wheel barrow boat!! |

Is the wheel in the Race or XD or whatever they're calling it version?
Rig looks a bit like a Bic, but the hu, minus the wheel, looks rather like a Vago or Bahia. Which ain't exactly a suprise, now is it? |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That has to be Laser's stupidest boat EVER. Boats should be boats and not gardening essentials. |

If you can't carry it, don't sail it! |

for a teaching/learning boat i think it will work very well. We had two rigs to play with when we used it and they were actually alright, the "race" rig as it was called actually made a significant difference. i did like the way that it only took about two pieces of rope to change the entire rig and the off the boom sheeting would make it a good size for a child; all the adults got under and around it really easily!!
