Antifouling

   Just asked Laser Performance if their Bahias need antifouling if left on a mooring. They said no because they are roto-moulded.
Has anyone got experience of roto-moulds on moorings, and/or antifouling them?

	Well, if they mean you might have trouble getting antifouling to stick, then they are probably right. If they are suggesting rotomoulded boats don't get fouled then I'd suggest they are talking b&*^cks

	One of the other residents clubs has a Bahia which was left on the water in a salt water dock. Barnacles and other sea growth were growing well. They now keep it ashore and had trouble removing the growth. It wasn't antifouled at all ! My answer being its not non-stick to marine growth
	Better a crap day in Abersoch than any day at work.

	I strongly suspect you'd have trouble getting antifouling to stick to a rotomould boat, but the best people to ask are probably the antifouling manufacturers.

	I came across a recommendation for plastic car bumper primer as a base for antifouling on a rotomoulded hull. Worth checking out, perhaps!

	Thanks really useful info. If roto moulds can't easily be anti fouled then that's them all off our club buying list and I'll have to look Wayfarers and Comet Trios, good 'ol grp:)

	Well GRP has its own problems. Materials vary, and if the resins in a GRP boat haven't been chosen to be permanently immersed... I think your first port of call should be the paint manufacturers to see what they recommend.

	The simple solution to that is to paint an epoxy barrier coat first, something like Gelshield 200. Alternatively you could even coppercoat, but suspect that lightweight dinghies (speaking relatively to yachts) are the most suited.
