The graph above shows a clear trend of PY vs change in PY year on year. Boats with a PY of <1000 only got quicker, whilst those above 1200 got slower (2016 vs 2015).  This partly explains how boats that have not actually changed at all have had a relative change of PY, and why 'historic' PYs for Merlins etc need to be used with caution.
