Thats half right

Ovi hull (all moulded hulls have to come out of the class owned mould currently with Ovi) that is then fitted out by JJ boats either in wood or epoxy top side.

Floor is the same height as other double floor self drainers, with a foot well cut out around the helming position keeping the rear part of the double floor as a bouyancy tank.

No need for a thwart, although these can be (retro) fitted to the standard double floor boats

The dropped footwell can and has been retro fitted by JJ and others to Epoxy  hulls

There are photos of the dropped footwell on the JJ website:- http://www.jjboats.co.uk/boats/phantom

thanks Phil  Smile

Even with a foot well the Phantom has at least 160mm less boom clearance than the H2.

I think we're missing the point here though, in many classes it's certainly possible to enter a national championship and get a decent (top 10) finish in an old £1500 boat and it's certainly possible to find accommodation for significantly less than £1500. Sure it ain't gonna happen in a Merlin but you pays your money....... And if (like me) you're sailing a £1500 boat you probably aren't at the level where you'd win the Nats even in a brand spanking new boat.
No, I think it's you missing the point. This thread is about the Hadron.Clue is in the title. It's not about old banger boats, or how much cheaper canoeing is.It's about a new boat. In the Dinghy Development forum.

Fair enough, threads creep, it's just like a conversation down the pub........

Without thread creep, this discussion would be somewhat shorter and wouldn't occupy the top spot half as often. Does need to be dragged back every now and again. But don't forget, there is an old banger in the Hadron's recent past.

Maybe it would be a good thing if everybody stayed rigidly on topic but the forum would probably be a less interesting place.

There was a Harrier at my old Club........................, don't know if you'd call it a banger though.

All the Harriers I've seen have been old bangers, and all fit the cheap boat thing that was being derided on this thread. Yes, they were new once, and so was the Spice.

When the original Hadron was discussed on here, there was much looking back at the Harrier. To be fair to Keith, I have no idea how much it was on his mind when drawing the Hadron.
