Looking at pictures of the Aero it doesn't look very comfortable to sit out on (particularly if you are tall ). Now I'm not saying the Laser is by any means comfortable but it does have wide side decks. Just wondered how the two compared

At 6'6" and in my limited experience I did find the Aero worse than a Laser. This was compounded by the extra weight that comes from being tall, which means you can never quite get forward enough in the Aero. The Laser has the crucial extra bit of length to help fore/aft trim.

As a short person, Aero felt much better.

I'm 6ft 2" and found the Aero to be pretty comfortable. My OK now has sidedecks which are a very similar shape 😀

I'm 5ft 9" and found the laser more comfortable, due to the wider decks of the laser and the extra time you have to spend on your knees in the aero. I had a test sail in the aero last year and was very keen to get one. After racing one owned by a friend a few times, I am very glad I didn't. Still love the hull and the rig but the narrow deck s are just a no no for me. It meant far too much time on my 50 year old knees.

I found the Aero to pretty uncomfortable and cramped when I sailed it. I am 6ft 1. More comfy than a Laser to hike but more cramped if that was possible.
By far better than the pair of them is the D-Zero, seriously good ergonomics for hiking (I don't need the stiffening pads in my hikers anymore and yes I am very biased).

I did find the D-Zero a lot more comfortable than either the Aero or Laser. More comfortable than my Phantom as well.

Can only agree about the d-zero. The wide rolled decks are wonderful, it's just a shame that there are other things about it that make not suitable for me and where I sail.

Interesting I found both the Zero and the Aero to cramped and preferred another Phantom.
We have a growing fleet of Aero's (7 I think)though at Lee and now 3 100 as well. |
