The courts will give him every opportunity to build a psychological profile, bereavement etc, they will hope for an excuse not to jail him, (loss of reputation a major punishment on it's own), probably a community punishment.

They also issued a proceeds of crime order against him so I think assets can be sold or charges put against any property he might own/be on the deeds for.
