I've always got on the end of boards, they should be strong enough to stand on shouldn't they? The only one I haven't was a hydro moth.

Don't see why. I never stand on the end of boards.

They must be designed to be stood on surely?

Mine aren't. Well, not at the end. Its got to be strong enough that you can climb onto the board next to the hull without concern, but it would never occur to me to balance on the tip of a board. Obviously boats with heavier rigs need stronger boards.
If you're speccing a board for a mass market boat then of course its different, you can't assume sensitive handling.

I guess it helps that an IC hull is so narrow, much easier to rotate if it inverts.

BTW. How do you recover from an IC inverted? St Francisco roller or somehow cleverly use the seat track for leverage.

All those suggesting that boards should be strong enough to stand on the end clearly haven't sailed Larks.

Yep, standard.  Only sailed them at Uni many moons ago, but my recollection is that if you put your weight on the end, there was a real danger of permanently bending the board/plate.
