I guess it helps that an IC hull is so narrow, much easier to rotate if it inverts. 

BTW. How do you recover from an IC inverted? St Francisco roller or somehow cleverly use the seat track for leverage.

Mine aren't. Well, not at the end. Its got to be strong enough that you can climb onto the board next to the hull without concern, but it would never occur to me to balance on the tip of a board. Obviously boats with heavier rigs need stronger boards.
If you're speccing a board for a mass market boat then of course its different, you can't assume sensitive handling.

I've always got on the end of boards, they should be strong enough to stand on shouldn't they? The only one I haven't was a hydro moth.

I fell out of my H2 last Sunday at Blithfield SC. Fortunately the event was being filmed, so here is the video, which shows how straightforward it is to recover the H2 - even for an old fellow like me.
