At inland club level age seems pretty irrelevant with Lasers, so long as they haven't gone soggy, or the floor dropped out of the cockpit. Sail condition makes a difference.

Yep, and I'd add, discovering possibly too late (or ignoring advice until recently) foil condition is equally important.

That and getting local sailmakers to make 'training' sails slightly bigger than the normal one seems to help enormously..

you know that period in your life when you decide to switch to Radio 2, maybe because Franz Ferdinand were featuring, or you were actually missing Jo Whiley, or you decide, momentarily, it's time to consider yourself a proper adult and grow up a bit.... then you get one of Steve Wright's 'Factoids' and you remember all the reasons why you never went near Radio 2 before and why you should immediately switch back to Radio 1, even it means suffering the occasional grime track.

Well, that's what reading Fuller on Lasers and Handicap Racing feels like....

What saves me from a life full of GRF/paranoia/conspiracy theory/self publicity worries is that at my own club and as I travel round with the Bytes, what a jolly time we are all having  sailing our preferred boats. At Bristol Corinthian recently four fleets chugged happily round without a care.

At club level given decent foils and rags and the best sailor most boats are pretty competitive.

Know exactly what you mean, I can clearly recall a similar instance when I hit forty and decided I was now old enough for radio 4, and back then I used to enjoy the shipping forecast which followed the catchy Radio 4 theme.. https://youtu.be/rF7kzj4lCnE. But don't worry a few years as a grown up soon convinces you that being an irresponsible youf is better and you'll soon return. Being young is easy, it gets easier with experience and when you've been young as long as I have it makes the passage into childlike senility almost seamless and I should know, I've been young longer than anyone else I know.

When my daughter was at university about ten years ago she came home when we were listening to music. "Oh no", said she, "Now I know my parents are old....they're listening to the Rolling Stones".
