Don't bother with one of those nice shiny epoxy ones Graeme.... mIke says the old polyester ones are just as good!

I think what he is saying is that an early fresh water washed boat will race at the same weight as a new one. The new epoxy would, one would hope, be a bit stiffer. I am sure Mr Blaze will be along shortly to reinforce this, but I believe that early boats and indeed quite a few Blaze X's with either mast and new sails remain very competitive. I recall that polyester boats that have been sea sailed for some time need to be fresh water washed (presumably all the insides) and then dried out otherwise they can weigh heavier. Will be interesting to see if if Hartleys take weight out like they did the Supernova. They could always correct back with correctors in the right place and the boat would be better.

Sorry massive igrf thread drift Now back to the Dzero and its Enterprise sail....

Enterprise sail? Is that a gag? From the man who put up with that deep cut over leeched joke on the Supersofa and the Dacronian throwback rig on the Aero?

One thing that stands clear of everything dinghy I've ever sailed is Dan's windsurfer inspired rig, you need to get in one and quick, to have any understanding of what's wrong with over half the dinghy rigs out there you need to try one that works properly first.

It's taken those of us at GWSC a while to work out just how good the rig is. Personally I've sailed in 30kts+ (so I'm told by folks who were in a position to measure wind speed on the day) at only 73kg and around 5'10" with the stock "grey" rig. Several of us had initially expected we'd need the smaller rig in a blow but have now concluded its not necessary.

It's not just a 'good' rig, I'd stick my neck right out there and say it's the best s/h rig on the market today and dare anyone to challenge that assertion.

Don't know about the blue one, something looked very wrong about it to me, maybe it was the stupid oversized boom, I'm not sure, anyway it's not in the same league as the main rig imv and I haven't tried it so can't speak with any authority whereas I've watched with interest how the Punk rig has morphed into that D Zero rig almost from conception and I'm not that sure it was much of an improvement over that outfit Dan used at the Broxbourne meet to great effect, now that was a masterpiece of a dinghy rig if ever there were such a thing.

I've got something that could knock that into a cocked hat...

well the last one I saw, they are continually updating and no, it's too specific to foiling speeds drifting off down the fast windsurf sail path imv you couldn't put that rig on to say the D Zero, but you could do the reverse and have a lessor detrimental effect I reckon, not that its anything but conjecture.
