Hear, hear, davidyacht. I resisted posting a similar thought because I risked being thought disingenuous again.

How about starting a new thread about PY, Minisail and Skipper 14 handicap gripes.

I am very interested in the H2 and if it sails as well as it looks my results when handicap racing will be irrelevant to me ... I shall know that I have done my best ... In time the PY thing will get sorted when the returns come in, and by then there may be a few more H2s to get some class racing going.

I have raced Merlins, National 12s, Solos, Lasers, Yawls and International 14s in handicap events and have achieved broadly similar results in all of these boats ... So I shall probably take my chances in a H2.

The MiniSprint handicap was 126 when I owned one in the late 80s, which translates as 1191. The 1248 handicap comes from the 110 figure on the previous system, x1.2 x9.46.

it's a pity PYAG could not find Sprint handicap, I believe it was last PY published for any Minisail derivative.
I will mainly be using for class racing and CVRDA events, so trying to live up to it's "new number" not such an issue.
I mainly use Enterprise for club racing, or I could use Aquabat, which will not be affected by new  Fuller number generator.

You must have dried that hull out well, Rob. Hopefully the fully sorted boat with powerful sail and righting moment will love up to its Fuller number.

I have weighed all items connected with my Sprint, Hull, Sail, Spars etc.
The basic Hull is nearer 40kg than 50kg, closer to stated figure than Rupert's Minisail, it is stored indoors and the 4 hatches are removed when not on water, so no water take up in lay-up.
The total all up weight is almost 60kg, (the exact figures are at club, so approximate, but only out by fractions).
The static waterline length is shorter than other Minisail derivatives due to extra buoyancy/freeboard.
The battened sail on iGRF's boat is a larger area than standard sail, the manufacturer can give exact area, plus also battens.
Their is also plank to take into account.

Calculations to decide initial PY's....pah. Even a dribbling old fool like me can have a look at a new boat, walk about a bit, drink tea then have a pretty good stab at how fast it will be. What is that quote about lies and statistics?

Supposedly 43kg. Mine came in at about 47, but the Minisprint, well, we have had to have 4 of us lift one onto roof bars. The sail is nominally 7.5, but if cut with the concave curve in the leech probably is nearer 7. Not an efficient shape, either.

Not sure how the system copes with blunt bows, and of course waterline length is maybe 3.7, when static, at least.

It does show that the MS has never lived up to potential, even if that potential isn't quite what your numbers show. Certainly 1248 shows that the boat was built with simplicity for the beach in mind, not racing.
