Yes - exactly. A 12 foot Hadron. I don't really want to faff about with jib, dangly pole and stuff. I simply want a straight-forward Solo-type boat without the weight and expense. Loads of lovely Baggy Trousers, Crusaders out there for under £1000. Keep the rig and main and shift the whole lot forward a few inches and change to centre-sheeting? Maybe have a separate start at N12 meetings - one way of getting the slightly older boats out on the water, while giving old-but-skilful sailors like me a cheap but interesting new singlehander? Hmmmm.

The Harrier died a death decades ago! The Hadron 2 is its successor, but is being aimed at Phantom-sized sailors, which I'm not.

I have a feeling you might end up with something which is just a little "wrong", too much of a compromise.
Might be easier to change the centreboard rather than the rig to keep the balance? Cheaper to put back to bring a 12, too, if you do that. To test it, simply rake the board a little and see how it feels. |

No it's not, the Solution is a far better boat than a Supernova and it's a better weight carrier than it's marketing might suggest. |

If you wanted a frankenboat little 12 footer it would probably be better to start with a Farr 3.7. If you don't want a wire give her little fold out winglets like some German and Swedish Canoes have for a bit more righting moment and away you go...

Too short for its width and too heavy for its length with only a fraction of the power adjustability of the Supernova oh and quite slow for a supposedly modern design, but believe what you want..... |

Power adjustability? What power? It's a marginal rig, 6 howmany sq mtr? and sticky out roach full batten disaster cut.
Granted if it had a half decent rig the boat bit is ok, if you don't mind running aground with a daggerboard and splitting the case now and again. Solution runs rings round a Supernova, out tacks it, out reaches it, will beat it upwind. I believe facts I find, then I've sailed both boats and seriously considered the one over the other, true the Solution could also do with rig carbonisation but hey then it would be perfect. It's the first singlehander that's taken me within .75pts of winning the summer series and the other local solution sailor is cleaning up the lake there is nothing else like it. |

In my humble opinion (more as an observer these days), Mr GRF has, after years of buggering about with difficult to sail....not difficult.... but challenging at least, he has found a vessel which is simple to sail and in which he can display his considerable talents without the compromise of complication. Any 'ordinary' boat would do.
