I'd love to witness that event sailed in Alto's it would be great to watch the use of the swivel pole v's those who sailed only hot angles, it's also not a bad boat for light as well as heavy crews, there's enough volume to cope with the weight difference and only if it were very windy would light crews suffer.

How many do they need? Twenty? So a hundred grand, it would cost and it would probably launch that class if the second hand boats were sold on. Money well spent, it would have to be a version 2, wash through hull design.

Ho Hum, dreamworld.

How would that work? What single hander would be equally competitive with the Topper 4.2 champion and the Phantom champion?

But then it would have to be sailed in Lasers, and Lasers are so idiosyncratic that only competition would be between Laser champions.

Think Steve has it, how many helms actually sail with their crew or how many crews get invited by the class association and have to find a helm!

Trying to borrow a decent Enterprise could be a bit of an issue if you weren't based at a club where they sailed them at a high level. Then you could't have supplied rags because they really need to match the mast etc. SMODs are a lot easier. The various inequalities are intrinsic to the event, just have to put up with it.

Do a dozen exist? Aren't they all a bit different depending on who built which one?

Oops ... sorry for the mispost.

Couldn't thay alternate 200s and 400s?  Ok neither is a perfect fit, but it would bias lightweights vs heavyweights in alternate years.  Boats are readily borrowable, which used to be how it was done in the days of Ents.  If RS wants to supply sails ... fine, but I guess that they could get away with only supplying spinnakers.
