They were sold off each year to the public, presumably at a discount

The 400 is probably the only other viable boat in the absence of Suppliers providing the boats.

It amazed me that Topper continued supporting the event as long as they did and I would be gobsmacked if anybody makes a similar offer again.

What happened to all the Xenons after the event anyway?

Congrats to Ben and Toby,  Whilst my money was always on them winning, I hadn't expected them to dominate the event like they did.

Though the boys are good, their weight is optimised to the small rig RS200 and the likes of NG/TP are much bigger. Interesting that Ben did not always get good starts at the Merlins and they came past us on several occasions downwind. Think weight equalisation on a small input into a boat with bigger rig would go a long way to resolving. RS200 sends out the wrong message as most are to big to sail it competitively against the likes of Ben/Toby who know how to get it moving well downwind at the optimised weight. Difficult one for Edwin as whatever is used, they need access to at least 20  - 30 competitive boats, supplier support and class support as well. RS200 is not the answer, but what is?

Is that a recent Change?  I know that a couple of years ago (perhaps 2) they contacted the sailor, the class didn't request an invite.

The D-Zero fleet were not contacted regarding entry, to be honest I didn't pursue it as class sec.  It would be nice to be asked, but I don't think we would lose sleep over not being invited at the moment.  So many other bigger classes missing and many smaller ones present, it doesn't really represent anything in terms of who is and isn't there.

No idea but it may have come through the class assoc and I probs am not a member!

RCYC don't actively seek you out anymore, or at least not everyone, you just contact them, tell them you want to race, they check you are actually a national champ and then respond with confirmation. Presumably if more than 20 teams (or however many boats or, in this years case, sails they have) they go on the size of the fleet or calibre of your nat fleet, or perhaps just pick out the hat.....no idea

When you have the most Endeavour winning crew, whom you have one Champs with, and some practice time, that's got to help!

Superb result, but do you not have to use your class championship winning crew?

Just goes to show how far most of us are from extracting the true performance from our boats.
