We thought a bloke at my club must have bought an M rig by mistake as his new full sail didn't fit the mast ... and the top mast was very short.

..... then we noticed the mast collar had slipped and a foot or so of top mast was inside the bottom section!!

So - a variable laser rig where you just pull the top mast in and out of the bottom and roll the spare sail round the boom.  Infinite rigs.

They don't count, unless you want to include the multifarious rigs for the Laser 2, the 2 each for the Pico, Vago and Bahia, and the rigs for the 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 13, 16, Stratos, Funboat, Vortex and even the 28 (did I miss any?). Stick to the ones that fit in the standard hull...

the radials used to have a halyard aswell. the theory being the 'smaller' people who would sail them would not be able to lift the rig in a strong breeze if it had the sail on.

'the complete book of laser sailing' by dick tillman,

p112 on right hand side of page, just over 1/2 way down.

'one of the problemjs small people have always has is coming up with enough strength to raise the rig. so i put a halyard on the rig'

they changed back at the same time the coloured sails stopped being produced.

although i cannot imagine anything worse than having a halyard on a laser, where would you put it all???
