Well it's been an ill wind for us, we have picked up a couple of new members as a result of the demise of Bewl.
All the talk locally is of it becoming one of those retirement bungalow parks, so i guess a little sailing wouldn't go amiss for the new tenants and it's entirely in keeping with the demographic.

was it the term 'season ticket' which gave it away?

Local talk is wrong , the sailing membership at Bewl is growing well

I'm curious, how many people are sailing there at the moment?
Is there any weekend rescue cover?
Is there any prospect of future racing?

Lots of boats on the water - come and see for yourself.

There has been some weekend racing that members have organised amongst themselves. There will be more racing in the future.

There is rescue cover - the landlord has just bought two new safety boats

Would a fully commercial 'club' without a committee be a first in the UK?

WPNSA don't provide cover or racing for general members.

Please shoot me down if wrong.

They have no RYA recognition, so no Open Meetings, No Insurance, nothing other than as the man said a few locals organising impromptu stuff between themselves, nothing wrong with that, if I had my way we'd do the same at our club and screw the RYA. They do bugger all but offer that insurance and in their way by encouraging the whole commercialisation of sailing and big corporate clubs they've brought this upon us and themselves as well, jobsworths and high paid consultancies that they now all are.
