From Cirrus Raceboats Website - July 2015 - Cirrus Raceboats Announcement - Next year Mike is 60 (!) and will have been running Cirrus for 10 years. His planned ‘travelling 60th year sabbatical’ and more recently changes in domestic circumstances mean soon is very much the preferred time to ‘move on’.   The Blaze as a SMOD package is therefore offered for sale and this can include all design rights, goodwill, tooling, manufacturing / marketing rights plus SAV (Stock at valuation). Please note Icon and derivatives of it are being dealt with separately.   The (Blaze) business has significant potential for further growth and expansion with the right individual or organisation   Expressions of interest in confidence are sought.

This is a very strong class with a large group of passionate sailors across the UK. Mike has done a fantastic job which is why I joined the class in the first place. The class is healthy across a wide age range and the racing is fun and competitive. Whoever picks this up has a tough act to follow, but for a wise buyer this class has the potential to go far.

Great class for a builder to take on. Which big builder doesn't have a rival class already?

Great class, well done and best wishes to Mike for all his work.

Well done too to the original Burghfield Blazers, who between them and Mike kept the class alive, changed the sail and rig for the better and manned the CA for many years.

Fingers crossed the class continues, it is a unique boat and one I hope to sail again in future.

+1. It's also the perfect boat for the Round Sheppey race, which remains one of my favourites.

The be fair it is not the class that is for sale but the rights to build and sell the boats.

I believe the 'design rights' are not owned by the class (they did try to buy them some years back).

Mike took it on to support the class, he also stepped down as class chair when he became the builder (IIRC). Perhaps someone like Rooster would be interested in taking this on? Steve C used to sail a Blaze.

Dropping 20kg off the hull weight and adding a kite would likely kill the class off and would be a mistake. The class has evolved in a managed way over the years and is pretty successful and usually knocking on the doors of the 50+ club in terms of national attendance.

White Formula are currently building the hulls I believe not Rondar.

Cirrus Raceboats is the official 'builder' of the boat. The design rights are (or were) owned by Isotek.
