Err, No.

Here's some study for you. The Laser guidelines will be a reasonable match for the Aero I should think.

Don't the rules when switched on just allow you use pumping to promote planing? No requirement therefore to succeed. So presumably it is irrelavent if your boat is capable or incapable of planing, whatever that might be. So fan your sails to your heart's content.

I didn't mean to imply it was an aero problem. Maybe better suited to one of the rules posts.

Well it applies to your class as well so how do you define it?

Its not a class thing its the ISAF rules of racing.

How can you have a rule that allows pumping to facilitate planing if you can't define what planing is? Protest city Arizona.

Who really knows what planing is anyway - its already been debated to death on here. i think we all know when we are 'surfing' and that is probably what rule 42 encourages through a pump per wave definition. The aero is no different to any other dinghy in application of the sailing rules. Same applies to blaze, solo, supernova, dzero, phantom , solution, streaker etc etc..

And yet the RRS don't appear to define what planing is.

Class to class, what is acceptable varies, so I was suggesting that the CA (ie the regular sailors) set the tone and ensure it is pumping free. Suspect this is a Pipedream.
