I'm sure someone would quote me £50k for a moth if they really wanted... I would be as likely to buy that as I am to buy a Waszp. Too much money, not enough "weekend-ability". I would rather spend £1000 on a Laser than £10,000 on a boat I could only sail half as often. Simple.

I'm alarmed at the talk in the interview of it potentially being an Olympic class.

I was very close to putting down a deposit and probably would have continued if I had a good location on my doorstep like Largs. I thought about all the times I would have to manoeuvre on the local lake and then talked myself out of it. If it takes of and there are a good number of them worldwide in a few years with a good circuit then i would certainly consider it. I am not really interested in the cost and hassle of a moth albeit I have been told they are awesome to sail.

Interview? Where were the hard questions? Sorry, but that read like paid advertizing. I hope, when the boat is reviewed in the magazine that it will not just be tested by a Moth sailor, but by a "kid off the beach who has begged his parents for a Moth" - as apparantly this boat takes all the reasons for not buying one away. So, it should be possible to sail by someone who has just passed Stage 4 in a Feva. Price, well, I'm not the best person to judge that. Not into loans for boats. |

I wanted an interview with A-Mac to get some more information about the WASZP and what the aims are for the boat. Right now the boat is at prototype stage and I haven't had a chance to sail it so I can't ask anything more. Once I've sailed it I'll be able to say more. I'm sorry it read like it was paid advertising to you, I can assure you that it certainly wasn't. |

Well i think its cool that there is this kind of innovation and opportunity within the dinghy market. Who knows how well it will sell, I'm not sure it necessarily suits the UK market, due to the majority of our sailing waters. But its certainly nice to have the ability to buy something that foils and race against others (hopefully) I wish them well with the project and look forward to reading about the progress.

He had dreams of doing that ( and/or a OD fleet ) with the bladerider too. Going bust with lots of other people's money didn't help ;-) It's rare to even see a bladerider now. |

Can't see how even the big rig will have enough grunt to get the target heavyweight sailor on the folis in less than a gale, as has been said before who not at least sail the same size as a full fat moth

I think A-Mac positions the Waszp correctly as being the Moth experience without the Moth issues.
Not everyone wants foil, but for those that do it is just such a cool experience. The Waszp is aimed at people who just want to turn up and sail. The key for me is going to be the quality of the development and manufacturing. It needs to be really thoroughly resolved to fulfill the promise.
