I'm sure someone would quote me £50k for a moth if they really wanted... I would be as likely to buy that as I am to buy a Waszp. Too much money, not enough "weekend-ability". I would rather spend £1000 on a Laser than £10,000 on a boat I could only sail half as often. Simple.

I'm sure Amac will quote you for one of his Moths with appropriate specification for exactly double the price of the other boat if you so desire.

If it is half the price of a current moth as per the interview, and people are only paying £15k for a new moth, then surely the price has to be £7ish000, not nearly 9 plus the VAT?

Never really considered depreciation as a running cost, but I take your point.

Either way, I don't know anyone buying 20K Moths. A M2 delivered is around £15, Maguire a bit more, me a bit less. All of them will sell for 10K plus after 2 years currently. In fact my 2 and a half year old Rocket just sold for 10K a couple of weeks ago. Someone made money on that since I sold her...

I am a bit confused here. You buy a boat for £20k and then sell it for £10k three years later. That does not sound like £700 per year to me. Even if I bought the £10k boat and sold it three years later it is not likely to be worth the same money. Are we forgetting the depreciation in the boat here when putting out figures?

They were great and effing quick.  Perfect for h/c racing on all courses.  But they were a bugger on a dead run due to the shrouds.  The Waszp fixes that problem.  I would guess the Waszp in low rider mode would sail off 950 or so and would see off an RS300 in most wind strengths.

I agree, the option to sail the Waszp as a  low rider or foiler is a neat trick.
