Launching any light weight boat can be tricky, so I'd not expect this one to be easy in the conventional sense, being narrow and having lots of bits sticking out all over the place.

While it looks like a great boat generally, if you launched where I do there'd be a very high chance of the sail getting caught aback and snagging or tearing on the centreboard.
It's great that we have these amazing boats; personally my issue is with those in ISAF, the media and the industry who imply that craft like these are "the future of the sport". Since they are impractical for most sailors and most areas, if this is the future then the sport will shrink dramatically. And if there's anything that the enormous leap in sailing speeds over the last few years has shown us, it's that going much faster does not create more sailors. |

I would have thought that the success of Aero/Zero indicated the "future of the sport".

To pick up on this Tick, I would suggest the success of the Solo, Phantom, Aero, Laser, Zero, Supernova, indicate the future of the sport. Single handed dinghies that can be sailed just about anywhere.

Unclip the foils and the Waszp would make a great, modern, one design, round-the-cans lowrider. It may need a bigger sail and a small rudder foil. The fact the rig is free standing means you can (if you are brave) go by the lee on the runs. In this mode it broaden the waters it could be raced on.
Just got to give it a PY and the old Moth lowrider would be a good bench mark. Edited by boatshed - 14 Jul 15 at 1:45pm |

I am a bit confused here. You buy a boat for £20k and then sell it for £10k three years later. That does not sound like £700 per year to me. Even if I bought the £10k boat and sold it three years later it is not likely to be worth the same money. Are we forgetting the depreciation in the boat here when putting out figures?
