To pick up on this Tick, I would suggest the success of the Solo, Phantom, Aero, Laser, Zero, Supernova, indicate the future of the sport. Single handed dinghies that can be sailed just about anywhere. Yes but Aero/Zero are the new ones, successful straight out of the box.

I think the lowrider aspect to it is a pretty good design thought as the pre foiling moths were nice boats to sail in light to medium winds.

I am a bit confused here. You buy a boat for £20k and then sell it for £10k three years later. That does not sound like £700 per year to me. Even if I bought the £10k boat and sold it three years later it is not likely to be worth the same money. Are we forgetting the depreciation in the boat here when putting out figures?

Unclip the foils and the Waszp would make a great, modern, one design, round-the-cans lowrider. It may need a bigger sail and a small rudder foil. The fact the rig is free standing means you can (if you are brave) go by the lee on the runs. In this mode it broaden the waters it could be raced on.
Just got to give it a PY and the old Moth lowrider would be a good bench mark. Edited by boatshed - 14 Jul 15 at 1:45pm |

I would have thought that the success of Aero/Zero indicated the "future of the sport".
